Performance Competition for Flute!

Our organization has sought and continues to seek ways to strengthen the awareness and appreciation of Latin American classical music by developing a full spectrum approach to its creation, performance and scholarship. In furtherance of the second of these objectives, our company is proud to announce its first performance competition, for flutists, aged sixteen to twenty-one, who live either in the USA or Canada.

Five Key Things to Know

• This competition is limited to three works for flute and piano: Mini Fantasy, by Brazilian composer Edson Beltrami (CMP 1205), the first movement of Postcards (CMP 1452) by Cuban-American composer Jose Lezcano, and Ritual mestizo, by Venezuelan composer Luis Pérez Valero (CMP 1224).

• Contestants film their performance and then submit their video recording of the number of works they so choose.

• Contestants must also pay an entry fee or fees, depending on the number of video recordings being submitted.

• Contestants can use any device they want for their recording (phone, tablet, etc.), as long as it’s video that has been recorded in one take and has been specifically prepared for this competition.

• The first place winner for each piece gets money! (And recognition). Don’t delay! You’ve got until Sep. 18, 2026.
